Need the Perfect Song?

South Second Wants You to Use Their Music in Your Next Video
By Sol March in Resources

A great soundtrack can take your project to the next level. South Second’s new album might just have the track your video needs.

Here’s the best thing: The album has a Creative Commons license, so you can legally use their music in your video.

Summer of Our Content

South Second have done something very smart with the release of their debut album, Summer of Our Content. By releasing it with a Creative Commons license, filmmakers like you can freely use their music in your videos as long as you credit them.

South Second describe their sound as Indie Rock, but the 10 tracks on the album cover a wide range of styles and moods so there’s a good chance at least one track will be a good fit for your project.

Some tracks are reminiscent of The Beatles:

While others have a touch of The Doors:

Instrumental Versions on the Way

Not only do you have some great tracks that you can use right now in your videos, but South Second have said that they will be creating instrumental-only tracks, which will be very nice indeed.

I’ll update this post when the instrumental versions are available. Hopefully they’ll be released soon.

Take My Money Please

It’s great that South Second have released their album with such a flexible Creative Commons license, but it’s even more surprising that they’re selling the album using a pay-what-you-want model.

Now you have no excuse not to get this album.

Listen, Download, Use

South Second’s album, Summer of Our Content, is available now. You can audition the tracks for free, set your own price, download the album in a variety of formats (MP3, AAC, FLAC, etc.), and use the music in your projects as long as you credit them.

I hope that South Second continue to create more awesome music with the same non-restrictive license. We need more great music that isn’t shackled by restrictive licenses.
